Akil Thompson on The Hyphen Tour
Jul28Ah, summer. The birds are singing, the bugs are rampant and it’s pretty much the perfect time to leave work/school behind and take a break to experience the Hyphen Tour, August 20-21, 2010. We think an epic summer needs planning, so we’re happy to bring you
the Hyphen Tour, a young adult’s retreat where young adults will find ideas to suit every interest.
I sincerely believe that the young adults of our church communities are the engines of progress in their local churches. My home
state, Virginia is teeming with almost two million young adults between 18 – 30 years of age. I can only imagine how many are in
the vicinity of a few hours of Columbus, OH. This demographic is teeming with energy, ideas, creativity and passion. It is Hyphen’s (the young adult ministry of the General Youth Division) passion to synergize with the local church to empower this generation to use their gifts for the purposes of God and the benefit of their worlds.
From college to career to relationships, we want to cast a vibrant vision for the young adult years. Helping young adults navigate this season while preparing for the challenges and responsibilities of the one to come. Hyphen is a community of young apostolic adults passionate about serving God. Including high school graduates, college students, married couples and single adults.
The Hyphen Tour is the beginning of a premier forum for the UPC Young Adults between the ages 18-30. The purpose of the Hyphen Tour is to lead Young Adults to spiritual reflection, inspiration with tools for positive change, and a commitment to a mission for God. We fully expect inspirational messages, powerful and diverse moves of God, and a beginning of a burgeoning movement of Young Adults grabbing their destiny.
